TERMS OF SERVICE

You agree to our booking terms when checking out with us. Any questions please do not hesitate to contact us

We know that getting ready for your special event should be exciting—not stressful. That’s why we offer Accidental Damage Protection—an optional add-on that gives you peace of mind in case something goes wrong during your rental.

What It Costs

The price of Accidental Damage Protection is between
$15.00 - $20.00 depending on the dress.

What’s Covered – Up to $200.00 in Repairs

Life happens—and if it does, we’ve got you. This
cover includes minor, repairable issues like

  • Broken zips
  • Split seams
  • Small tears or holes
  • Additional stain removal (like makeup or drinks)

Limit: Repairs are covered up to a maximum of $200.00 per item per rental.

What’s Not Covered

Some types of damage go beyond what this cover includes. You’ll still be responsible for the cost if:

  • The item is damaged beyond repair
  • It’s lost or not returned, and there’s no tracking or lodgement proof
  • The repair cost is over $200
  • The damage is due to carelessness or misuse,
    such as:

- Multiple or excessive stains

- Fake tan that causes permanent marks

- DIY alterations like pinning or hemming

  - Any signs of deliberate damage

If Damage Exceeds Coverage

If the item can’t be repaired or the cost goes over the $200.00 Accidental Damage Protection limit, you may be charged the full replacement value, determined by our team based on current market rates and demand.

For example, if the cost to repair the item is $250.00:

If you have paid for Accidental Damage cover, then you will only be liable to pay the difference of $50.00.

If you have not paid for Accidental Damage protection, then you will be liable for the full repair cost of $250.00

A Quick Tip

To be protected, treat your rental like it’s your
own—handle it with care and always keep proof of return. Accidental Damage Protection is there to help, but it doesn’t cover everything.

November is one of our busiest times of year so to so to ensure fairness and availability to all our clients, we’ve introduced a few important guidelines regarding the payment of the remaining hire fee:

Final Balance Deadline

To secure your dress during peak season:

  • Your remaining hire fee must be paid in
full at least 2 months before your hire start date
    .

What Happens If It’s Not Paid on Time?

  • If the balance isn’t received by the deadline, your booking will be automatically cancelled.
  • Your deposit will be forfeited, and
unfortunately, no refunds or store credits will be issued.

Why This Matters

This policy helps us manage our inventory effectively and allows dresses to be made available to other clients if a booking is not confirmed in full.

Our Tip? Plan Ahead!

Make sure to set a reminder and lock in your payment early so your dress is guaranteed. If you’re unsure about anything or need help, just reach out—we’re here for you every step of the way.

We know how important it is to find the perfect gown—and how quickly plans can change. Whether you're locking in the dress or need to change direction, we’ve got a fair and flexible policy to guide you.

Booking Deposits

To secure your dress for your hire date, we offer the option to pay a deposit of $100 or $200, depending on the dress.

  • This deposit is part of your total hire fee (not an
    extra cost).
  • You’ll see the deposit amount clearly listed when you book.

If You Need to Cancel

We don’t offer refunds for cancellations, but
depending on how far in advance you cancel, you may be eligible for store credit.

If You Cancel 30+ Days Before Your Hire Date:

  • Paid a deposit only?
You will receive a store credit for the deposit amount.
  • Paid in full?
You’ll receive a store credit for the total amount paid

If You Cancel 30 Days or less Before Your Hire Date:

  • Paid a deposit only?
The deposit is forfeited and unfortunately no store credit or exchange is available.
  • Paid in full?
You’ll receive a store credit for the total amount paid less the deposit.

Paid in full and want to switch to a different dress for the same date?
You can change your booking for a $50 late notice fee.

Once the store credit is used no exchanges or credits can be applied further (this includes but is not limited to date changes or dress changes).

Final Tip:

Life gets busy fast! Double-check your event date before booking, and if anything changes, reach out early so we can help you with the best options.

The 4-day hire period commences on the "delivery" or "collection" date of booking.

When the garment or goods are not returned by the agreed date The Formal Gallery will charge additional hire fees until returned. The client authorises Formal Gallery to deduct such additional fees from the client’s credit card which was provided at the time of placement of the order. Such additional charges shall be charged a fixed rate of $50 for each day overdue.

If the Client has not returned the garment or goods within 15 days after the return date, Formal Gallery will consider this as non-returned and will either charge the Client’s credit card, or email the client an invoice to pay for 100% of the recommended retail value of any goods not returned.

Some garments cannot be posted due to their delicate nature. Formal Gallery uses Australia Post Express Satchels, which enable next day delivery in most areas. Clients should refer to the Australia Post website for further information on the Guaranteed-Next-Day-Delivery network in Australia. If the client’s location is out of the Express Post network, it will take more than one business day. The fee is $40 for return postage. The return envelope provided is addressed to our business and must be posted by the client into a yellow post box by 5pm on the agreed end date. No other form of return mail is permitted.

Once the garment is received by the client for their event date, there are strictly no refunds. The Formal Gallery recommends booking a try-on in the Boutique. For online bookings, clients can refer to the sizing chart and email for sizing advice.

Formal Gallery can conduct temporary hemming or alterations, on certain dresses, for a fee. Formal Gallery also cleans the garments between hires. The client agrees that they will not clean, press, alter or repair the garment in any way.

The client acknowledges that the garment or goods they are hiring will not be in original condition and may show some signs of wear and tear. The client shall notify Formal Gallery of any significant defect or damage they have noticed within 5 hours of pickup/delivery of the garment. Whilst we endeavour to provide quality garments for hire, no reimbursement or discount will be provided for signs of wear and tear.

There are strictly no returns or exchanges on any ex-hire sale items.
